Adventure Awaits: Explore with a Trustworthy Partner
Whether you're interested in riding the roads around your property or racking up trail miles with friends, your horse needs to be responsive and calm under all conditions. Our Trail & Road Ready Clinic (Level 1 and 2) is designed to produce more trusty equine partners who make your time outside the arena enjoyable--not stressful!
Choose the focus area that best aligns with your goals, and leave inspired, empowered, and with a clear understanding of how to extend the benefits of this training over the long-run.
Session sizes are limited to ensure plenty of one-on-one attention from Jess.
>>> OPTION A: Trail & Road Ready // Level 1 (Sat. and Sun. 9 am-12 pm)
When most people hear the words "trail horses," they envision a string of sleepy head-to-tail steeds plodding down a level trail. But, a safe and reliable trail horse actually needs a multitude of refined skills and the mindset to remain willing and calm under a variety of conditions and in the face of various obstacles.
This clinic will help properly prepare your horse to be a trail horse (in the best sense of the words). The right time to hone these skills is before you find yourself out the trail, far from home, facing a difficult situation (e.g. shying, won't trailer load, doesn't cross water). If you want to trail ride with your horse in the future—or if your equine partner needs a trail tune-up—this session is for you.
>>> OPTION B: Trail & Road Ready // Level 2 (Sat. and Sun. 1-4 pm)*
Our Level 2 session is an extension of our Level 1 class geared toward more experienced horses and riders. Jess will guide you through additional indoor/outdoor exercises and real-life scenarios to help your horse overcome fear, use its body effectively on steep terrain, and navigate common trail obstacles like bridges, bogs, and forests.
If weather permits, you'll also have the opportunity to ride the roads around our facility and cross the nearby Gallatin River to practice your new skills in a real-world trail scenario.
*Level 2 students should either have registered for Level 1 session ALSO or have at least some trail/road riding experience.
