Learn How to Work Cattle & Build a Roping Foundation
Choose the focus area that best aligns with your goals, and leave inspired, empowered, and with a clear understanding of how to extend the benefits of this training over the long-run.
Session sizes are limited to ensure plenty of one-on-one attention from Jess.
>>> OPTION A: Cow Work Level 1 (Sat. and Sun. 9 am-1 pm)
- You don't have to live on a ranch to enjoy the art of working cattle -- that's why we welcome newcomers into this discipline and give them a taste of why so many cowboys and cowgirls get hooked!
- Whether you've dreamed about working cows or want to improve your existing skills—this class is for you. Jess will teach you (and your horse) how to safely and effectively work with cows... and enjoy the ride! This gentle introduction (or refresher) to cow work will help horses and riders build a solid foundation that will serve them for years to come.
- Best of all, the skills gained during this workshop extend to all other riding disciplines. So, whether you simply want to give cow work a try for a weekend, or need a little "tune up," the focus, leg control, and seat control from this clinic will improve your riding experience every time you put your foot in the stirrup.
*NO prior cow working experience needed (for horse or rider). Riders with previous cow working experience are also welcome and will be coached on higher-level maneuvers. Cows are provided by Jess Holloway and humanely cared for and not overworked.
>>> OPTION B: Roping Level 1 (Sat. and Sun. 2 pm-5 pm)
- Dally. Fair catch. Honda. What's it all mean? This introductory clinic is the perfect fit for folks who want to throw a rope for the first time--or improve their existing roping skills.
- Jess will walk you through the basics of roping, including how to hold and throw a rope from the ground, "catch" a dummy cow, desensitize your horse to ropes, position yourself as a heeler/header, and why roping is used in the real world.
- Level 1 does NOT include working with live cattle. We focus on proper rope handling, improving your throw, and getting your horse comfortable around ropes. (Want more? Join our Level 2 clinic August 22-23.)
Vaccines: ALL riders need to send proof of Flu/Rhino and negative Coggins. Strangles are not required unless there is a local outbreak. Riders will be informed if such an event occurs.
