>>> OPTION A: Ranch Riding (Sat. and Sun. 9 am - 1 pm)
- Ranch Riding is one of the fastest-growing disciplines, and it's no wonder why. This low-stress "sampler" style sport combines elements of reining, trail class, and even a bit of cow work to develop truly well-rounded horses.
- If you've never tried Ranch Riding before this fun introduction is for you. Jess will break down a Ranch Riding pattern, work with you on each dry work (i.e. no cattle) activity, and ensure your horse is a willing and dependable partner in all situations.
- Improving the quality of your horse's gaits, mastering speed variations within gaits, accuracy, and reining maneuvers like spins, stops, and rollbacks will set you up for success.
- For anyone who wants to try working cattle, you'll also have that *option.* From rope handling to throwing, boxing to fencing, Jess will adjust to each rider's skill ands comfort level to help you and your horse be comfortable and proficient controlling a cow.
- At the end of the clinic, you'll have the chance to perform a full pattern (dry work + cow work) to see how far you've come!
- *NO prior cow working experience needed (for horse or rider), and working cattle is optional. Riders with previous cow working experience are also welcome and will be coached on higher-level maneuvers. Cows are provided by Jess Holloway and humanely cared for and not overworked.
>>> OPTION B: Back to Basics (Sat. and Sun. 2 pm - 5 pm)
- Our "Back to Basics" session is designed for anyone who wants to rebuild a more solid foundation with their horse. We'll start by diagnosing underlying issues that may be holding you (and your horse) back. Then, Jess will help you reestablish trust, respect, and understanding through groundwork exercises. Finally, for those who feel comfortable, you'll keep building on what you've learned in the saddle.*
- This class is also great for folks who want to get their horses legged up after winter, are dealing with behavioral issues like spookiness and separation anxiety, or want to "start over" after a bad experience.
*Riding is optional in the "Back to Basics" clinic. If you feel more comfortable working with your horse from the ground for the time being, that's OK!
Vaccines: ALL riders need to send proof of Flu/Rhino and negative Coggins. Strangles are not required unless there is a local outbreak. Riders will be informed if such an event occurs.
