Spin, Slide, and Circle Your Way Into Reining
Choose the level(s) that best aligns with your goals, and leave inspired, empowered, and with a clear understanding of how to extend the benefits of this training over the long-run.
Session sizes are limited to ensure plenty of one-on-one attention from Jess.
>>> OPTION A: Reining Level 1 (Sat. and Sun. 9 am-12 pm)
- You don't have to have a seasoned reining horse to learn the basics--and have fun doing it. This reining introduction is designed to welcome newcomers into the discipline and give them a taste of why so many cowboys and cowgirls get hooked!
- Level 1 will focus on the basics of reining patterns, specifically spending our time on things like gait quality, big fast circles, slow small circles, and clean transitions.
- By day two, you'll also be introduced to a concept called "fencing" that is the building block of your future sliding stop. (Want to dig into sliding stops, turnarounds, and lead changes? Join us for Level 2, as well!)
- Best of all, the foundation of each session is on clear horse/rider communication, proper position, and keeping your horse in front of your leg... skills that will serve you well every time you slip your foot into the stirrup.
- At the end of the clinic, you'll have the chance to perform a full pattern to see how far you've come!
>>> OPTION B: Reining Level 2 (Sat. and Sun. 1 pm-4 pm)
- If you want to expand your existing reining skills, or want to build on your Level 1 foundation, join us for Reining Level 2!
- We'll polish your big fast and small slow circles (including transitions within the gait) using strategic exercises you can keep practicing at home.
- In addition, we'll dive into more advanced reining maneuvers like rollbacks, turnarounds, sliding stops, and lead changes that will help you execute a "plus one" performance.
- At the end of the clinic, you'll have the chance to perform a full pattern to see how far you've come!
Vaccines: ALL riders need to send proof of Flu/Rhino and negative Coggins. Strangles are not required unless there is a local outbreak. Riders will be informed if such an event occurs.
