What's Happening This Weekend
Choose the focus area that best aligns with your goals, and leave inspired, empowered, and with a clear understanding of how to extend the benefits of this training over the long-run.
Session sizes are limited to ensure plenty of one-on-one attention from Jess.
>>> OPTION A: Reining (Sat. and Sun. 9 am-12 pm)
- For newcomers to the sport, we'll focus on the basics of reining patterns, specifically spending our time on things like gait quality, big fast circles, slow small circles, and clean transitions. You'll also be introduced to a concept called "fencing" that is the building block of your future sliding stop.
- For those with more experience, we'll focus on the full suite of maneuvers, including turnarounds, sliding stops, and lead changes that help you achieve a "plus one" performance.
- Best of all, the foundation of this clinic is clear horse/rider communication, proper position, and keeping your horse in front of your leg... skills that will serve you well every time you slip your foot into the stirrup.
- At the end of the clinic, you'll have the chance to perform a full pattern to see how far you've come!
>>> OPTION B: Cutting (Sat. and Sun. 1 pm-5 pm)
- Newcomers and seasoned cutters, alike, are welcome at this fun and educational clinic.
- Learn how to select the best cow from the herd, bring it out, and keep it out.
- Understand exactly where and how to position your horse for success.
- Improve your horse's speed and accuracy, as well as ability to "read the cow."
- You'll also get to practice your turn-back skills as you assist fellow riders.
Vaccines: ALL non-boarders need to send proof of Flu/Rhino and negative Coggins. Strangles vaccine is highly recommended (due to local confirmed cases circulating). Send paperwork to [email protected] by 14 days prior to the clinic date.
